The Liberal Government’s Solar Communities Program supports local community organisations to help them improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions and lower their power bills.

Under the Solar Communities Program, each eligible community organisation will receive up to $12,500 in grant funding for small-scale solar and battery projects, such as:

  • new solar panels

  • solar hot water

  • battery systems

Newly installed solar systems can help organisations in need by generating electricity during the day and then using battery systems to store this electricity to run lights, refrigeration and air conditioning systems into the evening.

This program is part of the Liberal Government’s $50 million investment in the Energy Efficient Communities Program, which aims to support the environmental priorities of local community and environment groups in their regions and neighbourhoods.

How do I express interest?

Fill in the below EOI form - if you have any supporting documentation (ie. plans, prices, etc.) please email them to me at using the subject line “Solar Communities Program - EOI”.

I will then consider the EOIs and deciding which projects to nominate after consulting with the community through a panel.

If your organisation is nominated, you’ll be invited to apply formally when the program officially opens in mid-2019 through the Australian Government Business Grants Hub. Nominated projects will need to meet Program Guidelines and eligibility criteria, which will be made available closer to the opening date.

Initial EOI are now open and must be returned by by 28 March 2019.

Please note any forms received after the above deadline cannot be accepted as there are strict time constraints for the expressions of interest to be assessed.
