Seniors Card Cost of Living Rebate
The State Government's annual Cost of Living Rebate payments will start from late July to current Seniors Card hold who received the rebate in 2009.
In 2009, 231,370 WA Seniors Card holders received the Cost of Living Rebate totaling approximately $19.8 million.
I encourage all eligible WA seniors aged over 60 years old who are permanent residents of WA and do not work more than 20 hours a week, to apply for a seniors card before 31 May 2010 if they have not already done so. This will enable seniors to not only take advantage of the numerous benefits awarded but will also allow them to access the rebate.
I recognise the enormous contribution WA seniors have made, and continue to make, to our community.
The 2010/2011 Budget allocated $26.8 million to continue to deliver the annual Cost of Living Rebate and a further $2.5 million to support the further take-up of the Seniors Safety and Security Rebate for Seniors Card holders.
In 2010, the rebate paid will be $104.80 for a single Seniors Card holder and $157.22 for couples living in the same household where both partners have a Seniors Card.
Seniors Card holders who received a payment last year do not need to do anything to receive their annual payment this year. However, if Seniors Card holders' bank account details have changed they needed to provide their updated details to the Seniors Card Centre.
Please contact the staff at the Bateman Electorate Office if you need assistance in accessing the Cost of Living rebate.
