Residents of Butler and surrounding suburbs will finally get the sporting complex they have been crying out for thanks to a $5 million commitment from the Morrison Government.
Federal Member for Pearce, Christian Porter, who has been campaigning to turn the Butler Sporting Complex into a reality, welcomed this important announcement which he says will benefit the entire Butler community.
“As a dad, I know how important grassroots sport is,” Mr Porter said.
“Today I am proud to announce that a re-elected Morrison Government will invest $5 million to build the Butler Sporting Complex.
“Our northern suburbs are amongst the fastest growing in the country – each year we welcome 8,000 new residents into our community, and this number continues to grow.
“I am committed to making sure our community has the infrastructure it needs to keep up with this growth, which is why this announcement is so important.”
The Butler Sporting Complex will feature two multi-purpose turf playing areas, a sports amenities building, car park, 16 hard-courts, equipment storage facilities, toilets and a kiosk.
It is estimated the Complex will service some 75,000 people.
“I’ve spoken to countless residents and local sporting clubs about the need for improved sporting facilities in our area – this is something the whole community has collectively been crying out for,” Mr Porter said.
City of Wanneroo Mayor, Tracey Roberts JP, said this was an important announcement for the Butler community.
“The City welcomes and appreciates the contribution of $5 million from Christian and the Morrison Government, as this will assist the City of Wanneroo in providing much needed sporting facilities to meet the growing demands of a fast growing area,” Mayor Roberts said.
