Granville Park in Gingin will receive a complete makeover thanks to a $234,000 investment from the Morrison Government – an investment which will benefit the whole Gingin community and enhance tourism in the town.
The funding will see the installation of a new playground, upgraded barbecue facilities, new toilet facilities and shaded seating.
Federal Member for Pearce, Christian Porter, who has been campaigning for these upgrades, said he was extremely proud to deliver this much-wanted project for the people of Gingin.
“This is something the Gingin community has been calling out for,” Mr Porter said.
“The current playground at Granville Park is outdated and in serious need of an upgrade.
“Today I am incredibly proud to announce this funding, and the positive impacts of community projects like this cannot be understated.
“This investment will they get kids off the couch, keep them active and healthy and help promote community engagement and cohesion.
“And these upgrades will not only benefit families in Gingin, it will encourage tourism.”
Shire of Gingin Chief Executive Officer, Aaron Cook, welcomed this investment, saying the positive impacts of the upgrades will be widespread.
“This announcement will provide Gingin with the much needed playground infrastructure upgrade for the Granville Park area and will encourage increased tourist and economic activity in Gingin,” Mr Cook said.
