Delivering safer communities in Pearce

Federal Member for Pearce, Christian Porter, has announced the Liberal Government will provide over $300,000 in funding to two successful local organisations in Pearce for the installation of CCTV and security infrastructure.

The Shire of Toodyay and the Swan Valley Sporting Club will receive $300,000 and $27,275 respectively under Round 3 of the Liberal Government’s $30 million Safer Communities Fund.

The Safer Communities Fund delivers on the Liberal Government’s ongoing commitment to keeping Australians safe and secure.

The Fund, which was a 2016 election commitment, initially received $40 million to support local communities to address crime and anti-social behaviour and to protect organisations that may face risks from racial or religious intolerance. This further commitment brings the total amount available under the Safer Communities Fund to $70 million between 2016-17 and 2019-20.

Mr Porter said that all Australians have a right to feel safe and secure within their communities.

“More than 300 projects right across Australia will be delivered through our Government’s Safer Communities Fund, ensuring that residents are able to feel safe in their own homes,” Mr Porter said.

“The best way to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour is to prevent it from happening, which is why these projects are so critical.

“Our Government will continue to assist local councils and organisations to address crime and anti-social behaviour with a view to make our nation’s communities safer.”
