The Liberal Government will invest $5 million to support local community organisations to be more energy efficient, reduce emissions and lower their power bills.
The Solar Communities Program (SCP) will provide grants of up to $12,500 for eligible community organisations for small-scale solar and battery projects, such as the installation of new solar panels, solar hot water systems or battery systems.
The SCP is part of the Liberal Government’s $50 million investment in the Energy Efficient Communities Program, which aims to support the environmental priorities of local community and environment groups in their regions and neighbourhoods.
Federal Member for Pearce, Christian Porter, has encouraged eligible local organisations in Pearce to apply for funding through the Program.
“We know that community groups struggle under the weight of high power prices. That’s why we’re taking strong steps to ensure they get the practical support that they need to reduce their energy use without reducing productivity,” Mr Porter said.
“We are investing in community groups so that they can continue to support our local community.”
