Federal Member for Pearce, Christian Porter, met with residents of Parkland Villas in Ellenbrook today to discuss their concerns about traffic issues in the Ellenbrook Town Centre.

“Residents have raised with me the issue of traffic near their residential village at 25 The Parkway, Ellenbrook - traffic levels have been steadily increasing as a result of population growth in Ellenbrook,” Mr Porter said.

“Residents at Parkland Villas regularly cross The Parkway to access the shops at Ellenbrook Central and have to contend with drivers who hoon down the road.

“A pedestrian crossing in conjunction with speed signs reminding road users that the speed limit is 50km/hr in a residential area would make this road significantly safer to cross.”

Mr Porter has written to the Hon Rita Saffioti MLA, Minister for Transport, requesting that they investigate the matter and make the abovementioned changes.

“I believe these changes would require a modest outlay in exchange for a significant decrease in risk to the community, and allow residents of Parkland Villas to safely cross these roads,” Mr Porter said.
