Federal Member for Pearce, Christian Porter, is pleased to announce that the Yanchep Community Men’s Shed has been successful in the latest funding round under the Liberal Government’s National Shed Development Program.
“The Yanchep Community Men’s Shed committee has worked tirelessly in getting this important community facility up and running,” Mr Porter said.
“It was great to be able to tell President, Malcolm Gow that they had been successful in securing funds in this latest funding round.
“The $5,000 grant will mean a lot to the newly established Yanchep Community Men’s Shed members and the broader community and I congratulate them on their success.
“This funding will assist the Shed in setting up their shed and will allow them to purchase tools and equipment like bench saws, bench drills, an electric generator and kitchen equipment.
“I am delighted that the Shed has received this funding because I know what a significant contribution Men’s Sheds make to the local community.”
Mr Porter said Men’s Sheds foster a sense of community and help to enhance the physical and mental well-being of their members by providing a safe and friendly environment where men can work together on a variety of meaningful projects.
“I would encourage anyone who is thinking about joining, to just do it – come down for a cuppa, have a chat and just do it.”
This grant funding is part of the $5.1 million the Federal Government has provided to the Australian Men’s Shed Association through to 2018-19 to support the national network of Men’s Sheds.
