Federal Member for Pearce, Christian Porter, has congratulated the Mindarie community in standing strong in the face of WA Labor’s extraordinary broken promise that ripped $400,000 worth of upgrades from Abbeville Park.
Mr Porter said he had received confirmation that the $400,000 promise would now be honoured.
“WA Labor made a critical election promise of $400,000 to the local community to upgrade the facilities at Abbeville Park,” Mr Porter said.
“Straight after the election that promise was broken with no funding for these upgrades allocated in the State Budget.
“I was contacted by a number of local sporting clubs who were relying on these upgrades and were as shocked as I was to hear of the broken promise.
“Thank you to everyone who rose to the challenge, showed your community support and signed the petition that has gotten exactly the result our community wanted.
“The WA Labor State Government has reversed their decision and is honouring their $400,000 commitment of funding to upgrade the facilities at Abbeville Park in Mindarie.
“I am proud of the local community’s response – we have come together and we have made WA Labor keep a promise that they tried to break.”
