Individuals, community groups and researchers in Pearce will be able to benefit from the Liberal Government’s plan to support organisations to hold an event as part of National Science Week 2017, with grants of $2,000 to $20,000 available.
Federal Member for Pearce, Christian Porter said National Science Week will run from 12 to 20 August 2017 and will be a chance for all Australians to get involved in science.
“This an annual celebration of science and technology, attracting more than a million participants each year and I encourage all interested groups to apply for a grant,” Mr Porter said.
“Science is important to residents in Pearce and National Science Week is an opportunity to showcase the contributions of Australian researchers and scientists to our community.
“Activities like exhibitions, expos and workshops are a great way to get the local community talking about science.
“They get individuals and the community involved by making science accessible to all.”
A total of up to $500,000 is available nationwide for projects that promote and encourage interest in science, engineering, technology and innovation, and communicate their relevance in everyday life.
