Labor votes to keep Carbon Tax and insults West Australians

The Labor party has deceived the people of Western Australia again after they blocked the repeal of the Carbon Tax in Parliament last Thursday.

Federal Member for Pearce Christian Porter said Labor joined forces with the Greens in the Senate and voted down the legislation to repeal the tax only hours after WA Labor Senate candidate Joe Bullock told The West Australian that “Labor is scrapping the carbon tax…”

“The Labor Party is insulting the intelligence of West Australians,” Mr Porter said.

“Let there be no mistake, Labor has voted with the Greens to keep the carbon tax in place.

“The Labor party has further betrayed the people of Western Australia by refusing to repeal the disastrous mining tax despite Opposition Leader Bill Shorten and Labor Member for Perth Alannah MacTiernan openly admitting the tax has failed.

“Only the Liberal candidates in the West Australian Senate by-election will scrap the mining and carbon taxes.”

Mr Porter said the carbon tax would continue to hit West Australian families and businesses every day because Labor won’t accept the outcome of the election.

“Without the carbon tax, WA families would be about $550 a year better off,” Mr Porter said.

“Electricity bills are forecast to be around 9 per cent lower than they otherwise would be and the Coalition Government will not stop until the carbon tax is abolished.

“Bill Shorten should be ashamed of what his party has done. Voters in the West Australian Senate by-election should remember that Labor has zero respect for the will of the Australian people.”
