Farmers in Pearce can apply for a Farm Finance concessional loan under new rounds of the scheme that opened on 1 July.
Federal Member for Pearce, Christian Porter, said the Farm Finance loans allow eligible farm businesses to restructure existing debt or undertake productivity enhancement activities through access to low interest loans.
“These loans help our local farmers who are experiencing financial hardship, but whose business is commercially viable, get back on their feet,” Mr Porter said.
“Our local farmers help drive our local economy and provide vital jobs to regional communities.
“The Government recognises that environmental and other factors can sometimes have short term, but devastating, impacts on these rural businesses and so these loans are designed to provide short term assistance to those most in need.”
Mr Porter said the Coalition Government had committed $420million to help farmers throughout Australia and more than 230 farm businesses across the country had already received assistance under the 2013-14 rounds of the scheme.
