Federal Member for Pearce, Christian Porter, has encouraged the Pearce community to think big and shop small in Pearce in the lead up to the holiday season.
“Small businesses and family enterprise are the engine room of our economy and the Coalition Government wants to see them prosper,” Mr Porter said.
“Given that small businesses account for more than 2 million businesses, employ more than 4.5 million Australians, and contribute over $340 billion to our economy – encouraging consumers to shop small in local businesses will have a positive effect on our country, as well as our local community.”
Mr Porter said that the local multiplier effects of money spent in small businesses also benefits the whole community.
“Local small businesses are more likely to keep their profits circulating in the local economy, so the money we spend in local small businesses comes back to benefit our community – generating greater economic value, creating jobs and increasing local spending,” he said.
“The lead up to the holiday season is a timely reminder of the importance to think of our local small businesses when we head out to do our shopping.
“In the month of November, I will be making an effort to think big and shop small; I encourage the Pearce community to do the same.
“When we support Pearce small businesses, we are supporting the Pearce community.”
