Pearce community to have their say on country of origin food labelling

Pearce residents are encouraged to have their say on clearer country of origin food labelling.

Federal Member for Pearce, Christian Porter, said the Government had been consulting with industry – including growers, processors and retailers to implement a clearer, more direct system for food labelling that will give consumers the information they want in a way that is easy to read and understand.

“As a community we all want better, more informative food labelling and the Government is interested in hearing views on how this can be done with as little red tape, and as much benefit to consumers and industry,” Mr Porter said.

“The Coalition Government has developed an online survey that will help design the Australian Government’s new labelling system.

“I encourage all those in Pearce interested in the issue to jump online and fill out a country of origin food labelling community survey at or request a hardcopy by calling 13 28 46.

“It’s important that people can make informed choices about the food they buy at their local supermarket. We want Australians to have confidence in knowing where their food is coming from.
