The Federal Member for Pearce, Christian Porter, was in Carmel yesterday as part of his regular Coffee with Christian program.
With 16 people in attendance at the Masonmill Gardens, Mr Porter was able to answer concerns and discuss issues that local residents had on a broad range of subjects including:
aged care facilities and in home care services for elderly people;
same sex marriage;
the Commonwealth budget position;
state and federal legislative overlaps; and
the benefits of the free trade agreements with Japan, Korea and China.
“There was a solid turn out to the event from the local Carmel community and we enjoyed some robust discussions on a variety of topics,” Mr Porter said.
“I find that making myself available to the community through the Coffee with Christian program as often as I can, provides me with a great resource to represent the views of our community in Canberra.
“It also provides a relaxed way for people to come and have a casual coffee and a chat with me about the issues that really matter to them and I encourage people to come along to one of my upcoming events.”
