Blackspot funding to improve safety on Campersic Road

The Coalition Government will provide $56,300 in 2015-16 under its Black Spot Programme to improve the safety of Campersic Road in Herne Hill.

The Federal Member for Pearce, Christian Porter, said the Black Spot Programme provides funding to priority locations with a history of serious road accidents.

“Spending many hours driving the roads of the Pearce electorate I understand how dangerous some of the black spots in our community can be,” he said.

“I have been advocating strongly in Canberra for the funding for Campersic Road and it is really pleasing to see that we have been successful in securing this commitment.”

The details of the funding are:

• Campersic Road from Dalgety Road to William Street in Herne Hill: $56,300 to seal shoulders.

Mr Porter said that in total the Coalition Government would fund nine black spot projects in Pearce in 2015-16, with a value totaling more than $2.5million.

“In the first year under the Coalition Government an unprecedented $952million was invested into road infrastructure in Pearce,” Mr Porter said.

“Already in 2015 the Coalition has invested a further $276million in Pearce, bringing the total of road funding investment in our community to more than $1.2billion.

“This is a record achievement from any government to our local communities in Pearce and I will continue to work hard to build on this achievement for our community.”
