Federal Member for Pearce and Minister for Social Services, Christian Porter today announced that the Coalition Government will be investing $5.27 million in expanding the NDIA’s Perth Hills Trial site to additional locations including Chittering, Toodyay, York and Northam.
The established National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) model delivered in the Perth Hills region will be expanded to Chittering, Toodyay, York, Northam, Bayswater and Bassendean from 1 January 2017 following an agreement reached between the Commonwealth and State Governments today.
Mr Porter said that today’s agreement will give certainty to current and future participants of ongoing support and will ensure more people will benefit from the NDIS while the details of the full scheme model are being finalised.
“The expansion of the trial into the area will allow a further 334 people to access the NDIS in Chittering, Toodyay, York and Northam,” Mr Porter said.
“Both levels of Government are working closely on the full scheme approach for WA and we expect to agree to the final NDIS full scheme model later this year.
“This will be informed by the comparative evaluation and will be done in consultation with people with disability, their families, carers and service providers.”
