Declaration on the polls in Pearce

Re-elected Federal Member for Pearce, Christian Porter, yesterday attended the Australian Electoral Commission where Pearce Divisional Returning Officer, Mr Ian Hannaby, declared the results of the poll in the Pearce electorate.

“I am pleased and honoured to be officially re-elected as the Member for Pearce,” Mr Porter said.

“It is a privilege to represent our community and I am committed to providing strong and effective representation to achieve further great results for everyone in Pearce during this term.

“I said it in my maiden speech and I will say it again – to represent the Western Australians in Pearce is a great responsibility and for as long as I am entrusted with this responsibility I will give it absolutely everything I have.

“I thank the people of Pearce for again entrusting me with this responsibility.

“I would also like to thank the Australian Electoral Commission and its dedicated staff for their hard work and effort.”

The official count for the seat of Pearce was Christian Porter (Lib): 46,672 votes – 53.6% and Thomas French (ALP) 40,360 votes – 46.3%.

Mr Porter said that now that the poll is declared he is looking forward to continuing his work representing his seat of Pearce.

“If anybody in Pearce needs my assistance as their Federal Member of Parliament, I welcome them to contact me at my electorate office.”
