Over $29 million in funding on its way to Pearce

Local Governments in the electorate of Pearce are set to benefit from over $29million in funding under the Coalition Government’s Financial Assistance Grant programme in 2015-16.

Federal Member for Pearce, Christian Porter, has welcomed the substantial commitment, which is part of $2.3billion in funding being provided to local governments for 2015-16.

“The Coalition Government is committed to supporting local governments to deliver the services and facilities their communities need,” Mr Porter said.

“Importantly, councils are free to spend this funding according to local priorities, including infrastructure, health, recreation, environment, employment and roads projects.

“This funding will deliver a tangible benefit; improving our local community in the areas it is most needed.”

The first quarterly payment of $3,256,994 for 2015-16 has already been made.

Councils in Pearce will receive the following Financial Assistance Grants funding:

  • City of Swan – $5,043,284

  • City of Wanneroo-$6,221,019

  • Shire of Beverley – $1,303,679

  • Shire of Chittering – $1,195,385

  • Shire of Gingin – $1,710,430

  • Shire of Kalamunda – $2,517,631

  • Shire of Mundaring – $2,543,261

  • Shire of Northam – $3,357,711

  • Shire of Toodyay – $1,471,482

  • Shire of York – $1,433,711

 

“The Coalition Government is committed to ensuring local councils and the communities they serve get the funding they need to deliver the infrastructure and services of the 21st century,” Mr Porter said.

“This Government will deliver $9.45billion to local governments from 2015-16 to 2018-19 through the Financial Assistance Grant programme to provide services and build community infrastructure.”

Mr Porter said the funding is in addition to the Coalition Government’s Roads to Recovery programme which has so far provided over $1.25billion in funding for road infrastructure across Pearce.
