The Ombudsman is an independent and impartial person whose office investigates complaints from individuals about Western Australian Government agencies, statutory authorities, local governments and public universities. The Ombudsman also has the authority to initiate an enquiry or investigation about any of these public bodies, even when no specific complaint has been received.

The WA Electoral Commission is responsible for the conduct of State Elections and Referenda and Local Government Postal Elections and Referenda. They also maintain the electoral roll for use in State and Local Government Elections.

Transperth is part of the State Government Public Transport Authority (PTA), and is the brand name through which the Western Australia Government provides public transport services in the Perth metropolitan region. This includes Perth’s public buses, trains and ferries.

The Public Transport Authority is responsible for rail bus and ferry services in the metropolitan area; public transport services in regional centres; coach and rail passenger services to regional areas and school buses. In addition to these transport services, the Public Transport Authority is responsible for designing and building transport infrastructure.

The Australian Taxation Office is the Government’s principal revenue collection agency and in part of the Treasurer’s portfolio. Their role is to manage and shape tax, excise and superannuation systems that fund services for Australians.

The ACCC promotes competition and fair trade in the market place to benefit consumers, businesses and the community. It also regulates national infrastructure services. Citizens Advice Bureau

The Citizens Advice Bureau is a not for profit information and referral agency. The Bureau provides 20 minute appointment for initial legal advice for a booking fee of $25.00. Their lawyers will give advice on a variety of issues but they cannot represent you in Court. The Bureau also offers a mediation service. Mediation is a form of primary dispute resolution where parties in dispute can meet in the presence of a mediator who is both neutral and independent.

The Employment Law Centre of WA is a community based legal centre focussing on the provision of legal services to individuals who may face barriers in obtaining access to justice in employment. The staff provide free, confidential, legal information to disadvantaged employees living in WA who cannot afford other representation.
