The electorate of Pearce is one of the most diverse in the country. Pearce stretches as far north as Lancelin on the coast and as far south as Beverley in the central Wheatbelt.
Covering more than 13,000sq km the electorate includes the northern suburbs of Quinns Rocks, Yanchep and Two Rocks; the rural centres of Gingin, Toodyay, Bindoon, Northam and York and the unique east metropolitan regions of the Darling Ranges and the Swan Valley.
Federal Member for Pearce, Christian Porter, has expressed disbelief that despite this funding deal with the Federal Liberal Government three weeks ago, the State Labor Government has put this project in doubt by not allocating any State money in the State Budget for the Mitchell Freeway extension to Romeo Road.
Despite Mark McGowan and WA Labor talking about the need to extend Mitchell Freeway to Romeo Road at the Council of Australian Governments earlier this year, and despite the Federal Liberal Government committing $108 million to the project in this year’s Federal Budget; funding for the project was not included in the 2018-19 State Budget handed down last week.
