These beautiful dolls are made to support the wellbeing and development of children in African communities.
The Uthando Project Team will supply a doll for each participant to dress with assorted materials and demonstrate a technique to work with fabrics that doesn’t involve sewing.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn how the dolls help African children and their carer, as an invitation to play. They can choose whether to donate the doll or keep it to share the message with others about of the KwaZulu-Natal community.
Two-thirds of children there are living in poverty, and all have been affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
