The official opening of the eagerly awaited Banksia Grove Skate Park will be celebrated with a fun-filled community event on 27 October.
Located at Grandis Park in Banksia Grove, the new skate park is sure to be a popular place for local young people to get active and meet new friends while working on their skating, scooter and BMX skills.
The opening event will provide fun for the whole family, including:
Giant garden games
There will also be a chance for young people to show off their skills in the bowl, atop the fun box and along the rails in a hair-raising competition. Don’t forget your helmets!
The free event has been organised by a passionate group of young volunteers with support from City youth officers.
The Banksia Grove Skate Park is a jointly funded project between the City of Wanneroo, Lotterywest and Banksia Grove Development, at a cost of $600,000.
A new sport amenities building at Grandis Park will also officially open on the day. Comprising change rooms, a multi-purpose hall, kiosk, first aid room, storage spaces and sport floodlighting, the $3million project complements the new skate park and Banksia Grove Education and District Open Space.
The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries contributed $890,000 for the project through its Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities fund.
