Seed Saving Workshop - Bullsbrook

  • Bullsbrook Public Library (map)

You love to garden!  You planted your favourite veggies, herbs and flowers in the spring, watched them sprout, watered them diligently, added compost, weeded and mulched, observed bees pollinating, reaped the harvest, and savoured delicious flavours as you cooked and preserved your bounty.  Now the garden season is nearly over - or is it?  What about all those seeds?

In this workshop participants will learn what seeds to buy, how plants make more seeds, and saving those seeds. We will discuss terms like, open pollinated, heirloom, hybrid and learn which seeds to save, harvesting, processing and storing/ labelling them for future use and sharing. Participants are encouraged to bring along some seeds to process at the workshop, but this is not compulsory.

Presented by Charles Otway, of Terra Perma Design, a Chemical Engineer who has turned his brain and passions towards teaching sustainable gardening, ecological and Permaculture Design and eco-living in Perth. This workshop will teach you all the basics of seed saving and potentially contribute to the overall health and variety of our food crops.

Bookings are essential and can be made by phone, online or in person at a library branch.

Suitable for adults (18 years and over)
