Bateman
Origin and Name of Seat
At the 2008 State Election the State seat of Murdoch was abolished and became the State seat of Bateman. The new electoral boundaries of Western Australia were released by the Electoral Distribution Commission on 29 October 2007 and were required in response to the legislative changes bringing out “one vote one value” principles in the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia.
The Electorate
The Bateman Electorate includes the suburbs of Bull Creek, Bateman, Brentwood, Winthrop, parts of Murdoch, Booragoon, Kardinya, Mount Pleasant, Myaree and Rossmoyne.
It is estimated that there are approximately 22,327 voters in the electorate of Bateman.
Bateman Local Government
The Bateman Electorate falls within the boundaries of two Local Government municipalities.
